Ho Chi Minh City, August 6, 2026 - Continuing its menu localization journey in Vietnam, McDonald's officially brings back the Phở Burger under the Vietnamese-branded name Burger Vị Phở Mác Đô-nan Chính Hiệu - marking the first time the brand name has been directly localized in Vietnamese for a signature product. The item is part of the "Vietnamese-Inspired Flavors" menu - McDonald's menu localization strategy aimed at celebrating the distinctive values of Vietnamese cuisine and delivering a more relatable experience to local consumers.

With over 45,000 restaurants across more than 100 countries worldwide, McDonald's delivers a consistent dining experience to millions of customers every day through its rigorous standards of Quality, Service, Cleanliness, and Value (QSC&V). Beyond upholding these universal standards, McDonald's in each market also develops products inspired by local cuisine, creating a unique identity that resonates with local tastes. In Vietnam, this spirit is embodied through the "Vietnamese-Inspired Flavors" menu - where the distinctive values of Vietnamese cuisine are reimagined in the McDonald's style. The menu has made its mark with a variety of offerings, including Garlic Fish Sauce Chicken Rice, Iced Milk Coffee, Iced Black Coffee, Salted Apricot Kumquat with Chia Seeds, and more.

The Burger Vị Phở Mác Đô-nan Chính Hiệu features a phở-inspired sauce crafted from four signature ingredients - star anise, cinnamon, black cardamom, and clove - delivering the distinctive flavor of phở.

As part of the "Vietnamese-Inspired Flavors" development journey, McDonald's explored and selected phở - Vietnam's culinary icon - as the inspiration for the Phở Burger. Following its initial launch in 2020, the Phở Burger makes a special return this August under a localized Vietnamese name: Burger Vị Phở Mác Đô-nan Chính Hiệu. The new name draws inspiration from the familiar Vietnamese cultural tradition of naming phở restaurants after their owners, reflecting McDonald's deep understanding of and respect for Vietnamese culture and customs.

The highlight of the product is its phở-inspired sauce, crafted from four signature ingredients - star anise, cinnamon, black cardamom, and clove - delivering the distinctive flavor of phở. This is complemented by freeze-dried Thai basil and culantro - two essential herbs found in many bowls of Vietnamese phở - adding a familiar layer of aroma from the very first bite. The filling features a harmonious blend of premium-quality beef - tender, flavorful, and nutritious - paired with a round-shaped fried egg that is smooth and rich. The combination creates a "familiar yet surprising" experience: the balanced flavors of a Vietnamese phở bowl reimagined in McDonald's signature burger style.

Burger Vị Phở Mác Đô-nan Chính Hiệu will be officially available across the entire McDonald's Vietnam system from August 6, with an expected end date of September 20, spanning the National Day holiday on September 2. Beyond being served at restaurants nationwide, the product will also accompany two meaningful cultural and community engagement initiatives. Serving as a "culinary ambassador" at the international pickleball tournament PPA Asia 500 MB Ho Chi Minh City Open 2026, the Burger Vị Phở Mác Đô-nan Chính Hiệu brings the "Vietnamese-Inspired Flavors" experience to athletes from around the world, connecting the spirit of international sportsmanship with the beauty of Vietnamese cuisine.

Additionally, McDonald's will continue its partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC Vietnam) through the Happy Friday program, delivering Happy Meals consisting of spaghetti, milk, and small toys to young patients, as well as Phở Burgers to adults at the Ronald McDonald House - spreading the spirit of sharing so that every meal is not only a dining experience but also an opportunity to extend positive values to the community.
